Petroleum, natural gas and asphalt are some of the major natural resources found in and around the main island of Trinidad In fact, TandT is a major exporter of petroleum, natural gas, ammonia, etc. in the world economy.

Towns like Kwekwe in the Midlands have been built on unquantifiable deposits of gold.

Scientific expeditions have found valuable minerals in some of these Antarctic areas, including antimony, chromium, copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, tin, uranium, and zinc. None approach a grade or size warranting economic interest. Also noneconomic are the very large deposits of coal and sedimentary iron.
